Meeting the Standard
I am so excited to be a part of the Baldwin County Digital Renaissance Leadership Team. I will continue to work and gain knowledge about 21st Century Learning through this program that I had to apply for and be accepted. Professional Development for this program began February 25th and will continue at intervals throughout the remainder of the year. I am so excited to have been accepted into this leadership program, as it helps me continue as a leader, learning and sharing 21st Century learning methods.
b. Exhibit leadership by demonstrating a vision of technology infusion, participating in shared decision making and community building, and developing the leadership and technology skills of others
Meeting the Standard
Last April, I had the chance to apply and attend training provided by the Alabama Learning Exchange, which in turn would be brought back to my district to share. Through this training, I was given materials to share with my district. I was able to share the materials at our district technology conference, GRITC, Gulf Regional Instructional Technology Conference. I have also shared some of the ALEX resources through a link on my teacher website. I have a love for learning all about 21st Century learning tools, as well as a love of sharing new and valuable educational technology resources.
c. Evaluate and reflect on current research and professional practice on a regular basis to make effective use of existing and emerging digital tools and resources in support of student learning
Meeting the Standards
During the course of my graduate studies, I was able to take a course that had a focus on Technology Leadership in Schools. In the course, I created a survey to evaluate the needs within our school. The data was then evaluated and the needs assessment was written. The results of the needs assessment led to an interest in having more tablets. With the feedback, I was able to complete research, trying to identify which tablet would best serve our school and then I had to search for a grant source to try and secure the desired technology. After evaluating and finding a funding source, I had to create a plan for implementation. This is a plan that I look forward to submitting in the fall. Submitting a plan along with the request for funds will hopefully lead to the successful acquisition of the desired technology.
d. Contribute to the effectiveness, vitality, and self renewal of the teaching profession and of their school and community
Meeting the Standard
I spend countless hours working to grow and develop as an educator. This in turn allows me to contribute to the teaching profession by sharing resources on my class website. The resources that can be found on my class website are beneficial to my colleagues as well as the students in our school. I've had several parents who have thanked me for providing them with the many resources that can be located on my class website.
It is with great honor, that I can say I was accepted in the Digital Renaissance Leadership Academy and with this honor I will continue to contribute to the effectiveness of the teaching profession within my district.
