Reflection:
Instructional Systems Design helped me develop the skills to become an informed instructional designer. This course was designed in a way that could help K-12 educators efficiently integrate technology into their curriculum or it could be adapted for use in corporate settings and health institutions to efficiently create training and/or solutions to problems in the work environment. In this course, I became familiar with Voice Thread and Google Hangout as these are great collaboration tools and this course was filled with requirements that demanded cooperation and collaboration among a team of students. Working in teams, we were presented with several scenarios or problems that we had to work together to resolve as we took an in depth look at all aspects of the instructional design process of analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the instruction for the scenario. As a final assessment, we had to form our own teams, design instruction for a project that included broad goals, learning objectives, needs assessment, task analysis, and a plan showing evidence of acceptable results. Through this process, I learned that with careful consideration and planning a lot of time and money can be saved when following a systematic design of instruction.
