Reflection:
This course really gave me an appreciation for our district IT leaders. It was our district IT department that found the funding to start the eMINTS program which started me on my journey to receive my Masters in Information Science and Learning Technologies with a focus in Educational Technology. This course enlightened me with how much is involved from planning a budget to finding the right grant or funding sources to writing the proposals and planning the professional development opportunities. To demonstrate the leadership training I received in this course, I also had to find a grant source, write the grant, and then plan for the professional development that would come with receiving the grant funds. I wrote a grant for a class set of ten iPads for the classroom and I plan to follow through with submitting the grant in the fall of 2013. Although I have not been awarded a grant, I have applied for special professional development and been awarded the opportunity to receive training through the Digital Renaissance Leadership Academy, Alabama Learning Exchange, and eMINTS. These opportunities have given me the opportunity to lead professional development workshops, sharing my enthusiasm with fellow school and district staff members. I am making it my goal to continue looking for funding resources and professional development opportunities to build the collection of 21st Century learning tools and educational training necessary in today's world.
